1.An expert seminar, “Energy Strategy in a Turbulent Epoque: Constraints and Choices”, was held at the Beijing Arbitration Commission
On October 21, the Beijing Energy Club hosted an expert seminar with the topic “Energy Strategy in a Turbulent Epoque: Constraints and Choices”. Mr. Nobuo Tanaka, former Executive Director of International Energy Agency, attended the seminar and gave the keynote speech. Ph.D., Chen Xinhua, president of Beijing Energy Club, conducted the seminar. Mr. Yahya Al-Zaid, ambassador of Saudi Arabia in China, also participated in the seminar together with some 40 energy experts at home or from abroad.

2.the Beijing Arbitration Commission on Invitation at the 2011 International Forum on Private International Law
The grand 2011 International Forum on Private International Law was held at Beijing Central Garden Hotel during October 22 to 23, 2011. The topic of the Forum was “Private International Law against the background of Globalization: Opportunities and Challenges”. Chen Fuyong, division chief of the Beijing Arbitration Commission, gave a speech on “Joint Mediation in Settling International Commercial Disputes: Advantages and Disadvantages”.

3.The Guidance on Hearing Construction Contract Disputes seminar co-hosted by the Beijing Arbitration Commission and Beijing Higher People’s Court
On October 20, 2011, the presiding judge of the first Civil Courtroom, Mr. Zhang Liuqing, visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission and had a talk with the arbitrators and the staff about the Amendment of Guidance for Issues on Hearing Construction Contract Dispute (Draft for Comment).

4. the Beijing Arbitration Commission appointed as “On-site Learning Classroom for Government Leaders” by Beijing Administrative College
Bringing its reformative and innovative role into full play, the BAC has dedicated itself to arbitration and democracy construction, and the BAC has been appointed as “On-site Learning Classroom for Government Leaders” by Beijing Administrative College. On May 24 and November 1, Beijing Administrative College organized a visit, by members from the bureau-level leader training class and those from the “Democracy Political Construction Program” of a young and middle-aged leader training class, to the BAC in two groups.

5.The 5th Meeting of China Arbitration Forum Held at the BAC
On November 3, 2011, the 5th China Arbitration Forum, proposed and launched by Professor Liang Huixing, a Chinese famous expert in Civil Law and Commercial Law, and jointly organized by the Beijing Arbitration Commission and Tsinghua University, was successfully convened in the international conference hall at the BAC. The one-day forum took on two topics, namely “amendments for Judicial Review of Arbitration and Law of Civil Procedure” and “reformation of business organizations and development of arbitration organizations”.

6.the BAC on Invitation at the 2011 China Corporate Legal Affairs Conference & CCLA Thirty-person Forum Launch Ceremony
The 2011 China Corporate Legal Affairs Conference & CCLA Thirty-person Forum Launch Ceremony, having Legal Daily as the Guidance Agent and Faren Magazine as the Host, was successfully held in Beijing International Bamboo and Rattan Tower from November 26 to 27, 2011. The Beijing Arbitration Commission was one of the special support agencies of the event. Chen Fuyong, the division chief of the BAC, gave a speech on “How to Reduce the Risk Arising from Foreign Investment Dispute Resolution” in the session of “Legal Practice of Chinese Enterprises in Foreign Investment”.

7. An expert seminar on “Middle East and Energy Security” Held at the BAC
On December 7, Beijing Energy Club held an expert seminar on “Middle East and Energy Security” at the BAC. Mr. Yahya Al-Zaid, ambassador of Saudi Arabia in China, attended the conference and gave the keynote speech. Mr. Zhang Guobao, the honorary chairman of the Club, attended the conference, delivered a speech and participated in the whole discussion. The conference was anchored by Ph.D. Chen Xinhua, the chairman of the Club.
