1. On the invitation by Lombardi Molinari e Associati, an Italy law firm well known for its litigation and arbitration services, Secretary General Wang Hongsong presented on March 15, 2010, the symposium on China’s arbitration, which was held in Milan, Italy, and made a theme speech.

In her speech, Mrs. Wang not only introduced in detail the arbitration service and the status of BAC, but also stressed that BAC gradually become a multi-door international dispute settlement center since 2008 by providing independent meditation and construction-related dispute review service in order to maximally meet the requirement of both foreign and domestic parties concerned for a diversified dispute settlement mechanism.

The symposium was presided over by Mr. Gabriele Crespi Reghizzi who serves as arbitrator at BAC and as a comparative law and international commercial law professor at University of Pavia, and Secretary General Stefano Azzali of Arbitration Court of Milan Chamber Of Commerce and Professor Lotario Dittrich from University of Trieste who dedicated to the study of civil action and arbitration served as commentators. 2. In order to make BAC more well known among law circle of London, headed by Secretary General Wang Hongsong, BAC delegation had a promotional visiting to London, and pushed forward in an all-round way the cooperation and exchange with law circle of Britain.

BAC delegation had a conference respectively with Mr. Judith Gill QC, the head of international arbitration department of Allen & Overy LLP, Mr. Paula Hodges, the head of international arbitration department of Herbert Smith LLP, Alexander Oddy, partner of legislation and arbitration division and Chris Parker, profound lawyer; Alan Jenkins, president of Eversheds LLP, and Stuart Dutson, partner of international legislation and arbitration division of Eversheds LLP; Jonathan Sacher, head of litigation and arbitration division of Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP, Michael Polonsky, partner of litigation and arbitration division of Berwin Leighton Paisner LLP, Terry De Souza, head of construction and engineering division, and John Taylor, head of international department.

3. On March 19, 2010, Secretary General Wang Hongsong was invited to present the International Dispute Resolution Conference held at Cambridge University and made a keynote speech titled "China’s Experience and Practice in Institutional Arbitration”.

International Dispute Resolution Conference of Cambridge University is an international conference co-sponsored by the London Division of Chartered Institute of Arbitrators and SICA-FICA, an international organization headquartered in Hague and dedicated to worldwide promoting, improving, and publicizing dedicated to promoting, improving, and publicizing ADRs of commercial affairs throughout the world. Participants from the United Kingdom, Germany, the Netherlands, Austria, France and other countries to this conference include senior arbitrators, mediators, and lawyers specialized in dispute settlement.

4. During March 29-31, 2010, project team of Master of Science of Organization Development (MSOD) of Graziadio School of Business and Management of Pepperdine University of the United States visited BAC. This is the fifth visit to BAC during the successive five years. Independent mediation system of BAC has again become a research subject of MSOD project team. MSOD expressed their advice for development of BAC’s mediation service on the basis of a comparative study of American mediation agencies, study of organizational structure and development aim of the BAC, and the face-to-face exchanges with BAC's arbitrator and staffs.

5. In the afternoon of May 18, 2010, accompanied by Mr.Yahya A.S. Alzaid, the Saudi Arabia Ambassador to China, and his attaches, Dr. Bandar bin Salman, the prince of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, King’s advisers, and the chairman of Saudi Arabia Arbitration Commission, visited BAC. Secretary General Wang Hongsong and arbitrators Mr. Tao Jingzhou, Ms. Chen Guan, Ms. Tan Jinghui, and Mr. Yang Xiaochuan together warmly received Prince Bandar and his delegation.

6. The 2010 Conference of International Council for Commercial Arbitration (ICCA) was held in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil on May 23, 2010. More than 800 representatives from around the world attended the conference. Mr. Ding Jianyong and Mr. Lv Xin on behalf of BAC attended the meeting.

7.During June 23-24, 2010, Secretary General Wang Hongsong was invited to attend Preferred Firm Litigation Conference sponsored by Berwin Leighton Paisner(BLP), and made a speech titled East or West-on Place of Arbitration. Deputy Director-General Jams Clanchy with London International Arbitration Centre also made a speech with the same theme.

8. In the afternoon of June 29, 2010, BAC and Chinese European Arbitration Center jointly organized a symposium themed “Latest developments in the EU International Private Law and its impact on drafting of international contract.” Dr. Bo Wen, chairman of Chinese European Arbitration Center and Wayman, the deputy chairman and Secretary General introduced the evolution of European International Private Law. BAC’s arbitrators Professor Lu Song, Professor Zhao Xiuwen, Dr. Zhao Hang, Mr. Yang Xiaochuan, and Ms. Chen Guang and Ms. Li Juxia and other professionals attended the symposium.

9. On August 18, 2010, the celebrating party for “China Construction Law Review” (“The Review”)’s initial publication was grandly held at the international conference hall of BAC. Those who were present at the party included Key members of the editorial board of “the Review”, partners BAC, Chinalawinfo.com, Project Management Institute of Tianjin University, as well as around 90 elites from Chinese and foreign law firms, arbitration agencies, enterprises and academic institutes. Secretary General Wang Hongsong was invited as consultant to “the Review” to attend and gave a warm congratulatory speech.

10. In the afternoon of September 9, 2010, a survey delegation comprising 14 members from Hong Kong judicial organs visited BAC for the purpose of learning about the development of mainland arbitration system. The delegation was directed by Du Yanfeng, judge from the Hong Kong High Court, and members of which consists of judges from Hong Kong courts at all levels.

11. In the afternoon of September 27, 2010, a Hong Kong delegation visited BAC. The delegation consists of 19 members including directors and members of Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators with Mr. Robert Whitehead SC as the head of delegation, who is president of Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators and the former president of Hong Kong Bar Association, and Mr. Peter Chow as the deputy head of directors of Hong Kong Institute of Arbitrators.

12. To commemorate the fifteenth anniversary of the implementation of the Arbitration Law, the fourth meeting of the Co-sponsored by BAC and School of Law of Tsinghua University, China Arbitration Forum was held on October 9,2010 at BAC. The two topics for this session are respectively “Finance and taxation under the system of self-controlled revenue and expenditure” and “Arbitrators management system and their professional integrity” Participants at the meeting include arbitration agency representatives from China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Arbitration Commission of Shanghai, Arbitration Commission of Guangzhou, Arbitration Commission of Shenzhen, Arbitration Commission of Changsha and experts and scholars from Tsinghua University, Peaking University, China University of Political Science and Law, China Foreign Affairs University, and Wuhan University.

13. In the morning of November 3, 2010, Secretary General Wang Hongsong was invited to attend the symposium organized by the Supreme People’s Court, which as themed “Status of Judicial Review Mechanism in Arbitration and its Improvement.” The purpose of the symposium is to thoroughly implement the guideline of “Integrating Judicial Source and unifying judicial review in domestic and international arbitration”, which was proposed at the third national conference on foreign-related commercial maritime trials, to know more about status of judicial review mechanism in arbitration, and to probe into the way to source integration in judicial review mechanism.

14. In the afternoon of November 5, 2010, Secretary General Wang Hongsong was invited to attend and addressed the Annual Conference that was sponsored by litigation, arbitration, and dispute settlement division of Lex Mundi, and organized by Beijing Junhe Law Firm. On the meeting, Mrs. Wang Hongsong, on behalf of BAC, gave a detailed introduction taking BAC as an example, and taking into account the advantages China’s arbitration agencies have in dealing with international cases where China side is involved.

15. In the afternoon of November16, the delegation of Spanish lawyers that participated in a training course in China-EU School of Law of China University of Political Science and Law visited BAC. The delegation, which was composed of more than twenty lawyers and partners from major law firms in Spain, was headed by Stefan Messmann, president of School of Law of Central European University , who is one of partners of CESL and the former chief legal counsel of Shanghai Volkswagen Automotive Co., Ltd.

16. On November 19, 2010, co-sponsored by Arbitration Committee of Beijing Lawyers Association and the Beijing Arbitration Commission, Seminar themed “Contribute to transparent and incorruptible arbitration by lawyers and arbitrators” was held. The meeting was presided over by lawyer Zhang Lixia, director of Arbitration Committee of the Beijing Lawyers Association and director of Huamao Guigu Law Firm. Secretary General Wang Hongsong made a theme speech. Over 50 lawyers and arbitrators participated the meeting.
