On August 2, the International Commercial Arbitration Training held by Beijing Arbitration Commission (hereinafter referred to as “BAC”) was successfully concluded in the international conference hall of BAC. The training spanned four months and lasted six days, and the senior management team of various major state-owned large-sized enterprises, the head of legal affairs department of transnational enterprises, the lawyers of well-known law firms and other professionals and the arbitrators of BAC totally 137 signed up for the training.

On the afternoon of August 3, the 2009 Session 6 (totally Session 54) of arbitrator salon activity of BAC was held successfully in the international conference hall of BAC. The salon activity, themed with “Viewing the legal issues to be noted in dispute review from FIDIC text and cases occurred in the domestic as agreed in dispute review”, was lectured by the arbitrator of BAC, the director of Shanghai City Development Law Firm and the copartner Mr. Zhu Shuying, and presided over by the arbitrator of the BAC and Mr. Liu Yuwu, the copartner of the international litigation and arbitration department of Beijing King & Wood Law Firm.

On the morning of August 12, the vice president of the Higher People’s Court of Beijing –Zhu Jiang, the chief judge of the No. 2 Civil Division of the Higher Court – Liu Lanfang, the deputy chief judge of the No. 2 Civil Division of the Higher Court – Zhao Bin, the chief judge of No. 3 Civil Division of Beijing First Intermediate People’s Court – Wang Yadong, the chief judge of No. 3 Civil Division of Beijing Second Intermediate People’s Court – Yang Xiaoyong and other related judges went to BAC to carry out the research work. The secretary general of BAC –Wang Hongsong, the director of the secretariat and some staffs and the officers of the Court held discussion on how to promote the development of arbitration, mediation and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms.

The Arbitrator Online Office System of BAC was went up formally on August 13 and served on trail on August 14.

BAC carried out the pilot work of multivariate dispute resolution mechanism jointly with Chaoyang court and set up the propaganda site related to arbitration case-filling and mediate case-filling outside the Case Filling Chamber of Chaoyang court, and the arrangement of advisory site in Chaoyang court of the Committee was completed and put into use on August 20.

On August 27, the seminar of “The 3rd Greater China Arbitration Forum” was held in Taipei, the secretary general Mrs. Wang Hongsong and the officer Mrs. Jiang Lili of BAC went to Taiwan to participate in the seminar.
