  In accordance with the provisions of the Civil Law, Real Right Law, Contract Law, Civil Procedure Law and other laws, and in combination with trial practice, the Supreme Court issued judicial explanation of “Provisions of the Supreme People's Court on Several Issues Concerning the Application of the Prescription System in the Hearing of Civil Cases”, which shall be announced on 31 August, in order to properly apply the provisions of prescription system, protect the parties’ legal right and benefit. These 24 judicial explanations were comparatively systematic and complete provisions on the general principle, the beginning for calculating the prescription, the suspension and effect of prescription, and the attachment. It gave a full and systemic analysis of the current provisions on the Prescription System in the Hearing of Civil Cases, made scientific revision, integration and perfection, and shall come into force since 1 Sept. 2008.

Solicit opinions from the general public about three amendments

   The 4th Session of the 11th National People’s Congress Standing Committee made initial submission for “Amendments VII to the Criminal Law”, “Amendments to the Insurance Law of the People's Republic of China” and “Amendments to the Patent Law of the People's Republic of China”. According to the spirit of decisions of “in principle, the amendments submitted by the Standing Committee of the National People’s Congress shall be open to the public and solicit opinions” by the 11th Chairmen’s Meeting of the Standing Committee of National People’s Congress, these three amendments and explanations are open to the public on NPC website, to solicit opinions from the general public. The deadline is 10 Oct. 2008.
